About the tip

If you are reading this page, and have plans for following our trip, you should already have an idea of who we are and what we are doing
. But for those who are still wondering, here’s a small summary of whats going on;

Why?
During 2009, we all got encouraged to visit South-Africa by an Afrikaans friend of ours called Chris. After visiting Norway for the second time, being treated with great things like snow, good company and smalahove, he felt it was his obligation to invite us to his home country. He tempted us with everything from great landscapes to extreme penguin-hugging, so we had no other choice than to say yes. At first we had planned two separate trips, but some time during February we realized that we had just enough in common to arrange a combined trip. Shortly after, the planning committee sat down, and after some procrastination, we finally got around to order some tickets
. South-Africa, here we come!

When?
We leave Norway a bit too early on the 23th of March, heading for a short stop in Amsterdam before we land in Johannesburg safe and or sound right before midnight
. That’s 18 hours of traveling filled with excitement and hopefully some sleep. Two weeks later we will be heading back to Norway, arriving in Oslo sometime during the 9th of April.

Who?
The exploration group consists of Thinh, Anna, Sveta and Bjørn. If you have no idea who we are, there will probably pop up some pictures along the way where you can get a better glimpse of who we are, and what we look like being attacked by lions
.

Where?
We have made some plans for the trip, but we would as much as possible be able to move around without a tight schedule or pushing reservations

. Our rough plan may or may not include the following :

  • Johannesburg (We were advised against staying here)
  • Kruger National Park (Giraffes and Malaria)
  • Port Elisabeth (Nelson Mandela Bay, Addo Elephant Park)
  • Knysna (Tsitsikamma tre-swinging)
  • Witsand (De Hoop National Reserve)
  • Hermanus (Ice Cream)
  • Stellenboch (Where we will live the good life)

This is just some ideas, so we will see what happens as the adventure unfolds itself. If Sveta ends up in the hospital after falling off a giraffe, we’ll have to change our plans accordingly.
